Question by all in on the flop: What kind (or how powerful) of a telescope do I need to see Saturn’s rings?
I just bought Starmap application on my iPhone, and I can now locate any object in the sky, but I want to be able to see Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, etc. Maybe Andromeda. I don’t have a lot of coin to spend on this. I saw a 50×00x Vivitar at CVS for $ 14.99, I am sure it’s a POS, but with that resolution would I be able to make anything out?
I would say I am willing to spend 50 to 75 bucks. I dont need anything uber fancy. Do I have any hope? Is there any telescope you can recommend? What is a good one’s magnification levels?

Well, my telescope is a d=130 and c=65, which is pretty good. I can usually find Saturn in the Fall where a I live, and can usually see faint rings with my 3.6mm Super Eyepiece. But if you want it actually SEE saturn like you do in those NASA photos, I suggest going to your local Astronomy Club, or Wing at University and using on of their telescopes
Make sure its a nice clear night, and happy star gazing (:
